A question we must ask ourselves is, what is self-care?
Self care is purposely taking care of yourself either mentally, physically, spiritually, socially and emotionally with the goal of promoting your well-being.
So how can you participate in self-care?
There are many ways in which you can take care of yourself. It can be as simple as watching a movie, getting enough sleep, even phoning a friend about your day is self-care!
Besides those I've briefly mentioned there are other ways of how you can take care of yourself, and be more intentional with doing so!
Journaling your emotions/daily life.
Journaling can help you process your emotions about whatever you may be going through. It is a good way to self-reflect to learn more about yourself and move forward through situations in a healthy way. Also it can be a place where you just want to lay out your thoughts, as well as decompress about how your day or week went.
Journaling is like a canvas, you can fill your book with anything you’d like.
It doesn’t have to follow any rules, you simply write whatever you have on your mind. Your canvas may just carry a sketch, or a fully fleshed out painting, or it may be barely started. Your journal, your rules, be free with it! 😊✨
Spending time with loved ones
Spending time with those whom you care about can help strengthen your relationship, create new memories. Just putting aside that time can show a lot of care. Not only does spending time increase relationships and happiness it also combats loneliness.
Spending time with family/friends promotes your mental well-being, and also those around you. Additionally you also have happy memories you can look/think back on.
Environment
It is also important to take care of your surroundings. Just like journaling can help clear mental space you must also take care of the space around you.
Tidying up your room/house may be one way, sweeping, clearing surfaces etc. 15 minutes a day can do a lot!
Just remember to be easy on yourself, and do all that you can. 🫶
Hobbies
Picking up a hobby can be another way to relax. For example, creative outlets such as art, music, and reading. Just like writing, you can express yourself through hobbies placing those feelings that can be hard to write down and do it within other forms.
Like skills, hobbies take time to build. So by adapting a hobby you are making a commitment to yourself, not for any practice or training as you would develop a skill for, but for yourself to have enjoyment and have a positive outlet for your emotions. 🎶 🎨
In a world where we as people are constantly busy, it is important to take the time, however long that may be and engage in self-care. Whether that be those things I've mentioned today or whatever you may do now. We must take care of ourselves, and love ourselves, including those around us. 💕
